On Saturday, October 24th, 2026 between 10:00 a.m. and noon (EST), NANPS members are invited to spend a morning exploring Sherwood Park, learning about Toronto’s native plants, and getting hands-on with habitat restoration.
We’ll meet at the main entrance gate to Sherwood Park, (one block east of Mt. Pleasant at the end of Sherwood Avenue) and begin with a guided walk led by Pat Concessi, Lead Steward with Toronto Nature Stewards (TNS). Pat was part of the original TNS leadership group and worked on the development of the manuals that guide the nature stewards. She has a wealth of knowledge to share about Toronto’s native flora, local ecosystems, and best management practices for invasive species.
Then we’ll roll up our sleeves and tackle some of the park’s woody invasive plants, including buckthorn, euonymus, and ajuga. You’ll learn practical stewardship techniques while making a direct contribution to the health of the park.
No previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to help.
