With Kevin Kavanagh
Selecting plants and designing gardens with birds in mind can add interesting new elements to the home landscape and often contribute in meaningful ways to bird conservation. This presentation introduces simple design principles that can enhance the attractiveness of the garden landscape for birds in all seasons. Important bird friendly features such as companion plantings that help provide shelter from predators and inclement winter, incorporation of small water features, use of eco-regionally appropriate native plant species for enhancing food variety through the seasons and creation of vertical structure in the garden are some of the topics discussed.
Presenter Kevin Kavanagh is life-long gardener and conservationist, and the owner of South Coast Gardens and Consulting, a small nursery and landscape design business in heart of Ontario’s ‘Carolinian zone’.
